Suggestions for Collecting Donations:

Mail out a letter with self addressed stamped return envelopes. (have to do this one quick because time is running out!) Make the letter short and to the point but make sure that there is a sense of urgency. If they don’t do it right then, they might forget. At the bottom have a place for them to choose a donation option and make it clever. Here is what one participant sent us. (feel free to copy it)

Dear Family and Friends,
I am participating in a scrapbooking charity event to raise money and awareness for The Fire Victims of the California Wildfires. I need your help to reach my goal of $500 (aim high!) in donations. If you could spare a little (or a lot) would you please send me a check made out to either charity? I would really appreciate it and in return I will be sure and keep you on my Christmas card list this year. (ha ha) I have enclosed a self addressed stamped envelope to make it easy for you…so do it now before you forget!
Hope you can help!
Love,

Additional Suggestions:

Check to see if your company or anyone you know works for a company has a program to match donations. A lot of companies do this.

Ask if you can put a donation can in the break room at your office. Decorate a paint can and place it there for people to donate anonymously. Change adds up!

Ask your local mom and pop shops if you can put a can next to their register to collect donations.

Have a yard sale and put up a sign saying that all money will be donated to charity.

Sell your items on Ebay. It’s really cheap and easy.

Make handmade cards and offer them to your friends and family in exchange for a donation.

Set up a Paypal account (it’s free) and allow people to send donations to you thru Paypal.

Buy donuts before work and sell them at the office. The donut shop owner might even donate them! You can always get ambitious and bake some cookies too!

Ask ten friends to give you $10.00

Ask your local coffee house, sandwich place, etc. to donate the profit from the sale of one coffee drink or special sandwich for a day.

Consider asking people to donate an amount of money per page you will need to finish.

Hold a car wash.

Start a change jar. You'd be surprised how much money in loose change you can collect!

Email everyone in your address book and tell them your reasons for wanting to help raise money for The Cancer Coping Center.
