Fundraising Ideas and Opportunities:

  1. Ask 10 friends to give you $10.00 or 5 friends to give you $20.

  2. Shop with our sponsors and turn in your receipts. We have enclosed a list of sponsors that will donate a percentage of your purchases to the charities in your name. This will count towards your minimum donation as well as toward winning Queen of Philanthropy.

  3. Send out a letter to your friends and family with a self-addressed stamped envelope telling them about the charity and what you are doing. Ask for a donation. (sample letter attached)

  4. Have a Garage Sale/ Ebay Sale/ Etsy Sale with a big sign that says the money is for charity. Get rid of something valuable that you will never use. Sell those wonderful handmade items that you have enjoyed making but may not need. One good sale is all it takes!

  5. Collect Coins-Every penny counts and adds up. Decorate a paint can and see if you can put it at your desk at work or at local businesses.

  6. Hold a car wash at your local car wash or gas station, or see if your HOA will allow you to do one in your neighborhood.

  7. Collect Pledges-Ask your friends, family and co-workers to pledge to save a set amount of money each day and give it to you for donation. Some might offer $0.25 others might offer $5 a day! It all adds up.

  8. Send out an email to your friends and family Send out an email explaining the cause and what you are doing, and include a link to the charity’s website. (Be sure to get a copy of the donation confirmation if they donate directly to the charity in order to get credit for their donation at the event.) You might also send them directly to the SBR website at www.ScrapbookRoyalty.org/events.html and then click on the event you are attending to donate through the designated link.

  9. Make Handmade cards – Offer them to your friends and family in exchange for a donation.

  10. Set up a Paypal Account - Allow people to send donations to you through Paypal. It’s free to set-up an account. Go to www.paypal.com.

  11. Consider asking people to donate an amount of money for each page you complete.

  12. Bake something yummy – Request a donation for your treats at the office. Setup a table in front of the grocery store. Make a sign requesting donations for your treats to support your charity. Setup an old-fashioned neighborhood lemonade stand. Sometimes people just need a little motivation to open their hearts! Kids love to help fundraise and they can learn a lot in an afternoon selling lemonade.

  13. Buy donuts before work and sell them at the office. The donut shop owner might even donate them!

  14. Ask your local coffee house, sandwich place, etc. to donate the profit from the sale of one coffee drink or special sandwich for a day.

Suggestions for Collecting Donations:

Mail out a letter with self addressed stamped return envelopes. (have to do this one quick because time is running out!) Make the letter short and to the point but make sure that there is a sense of urgency. If they don’t do it right then, they might forget. At the bottom have a place for them to choose a donation option and make it clever. Here is what one participant sent us. (feel free to copy it)

Dear Family and Friends,
I am participating in a scrapbooking charity event to raise money and awareness for The (INSERT CHARITY NAME HERE). I need your help to reach my goal of $500 (aim high!) in donations. If you could spare a little (or a lot) would you please send me a check made out to Scrapbook Royalty? I would really appreciate it and in return I will be sure and keep you on my Christmas card list this year. (ha ha) I have enclosed a self addressed stamped envelope to make it easy for you…so do it now before you forget!
Hope you can help!
Love,

  • $10 I’m broke but I want to help

  • $25 I can spare a little cash

  • $50 I’m expecting a nice size tax return

  • $100 I’m rich and love to give to charities

  • $_____ I’m sending my own amount just to be different.

Obviously you should write the letter to match your personality.
