| All of January 2009: "Sock it to Poverty" Sock Drive
UPDATE - Thanks to your efforts, we collected 112 pairs of socks and the whole event collected over 1000 pairs of socks. The socks we collected were given to InterFaith homeless shelter in Escondido. They were so very grateful.
Our Founder, Elena is part of the Fiskateer Charity Fiskamittee and every month they will be choosing a different way to help others. January is "Poverty in America Awareness Month" and with that the Fiskateer Charity Fiskamittee is starting 2009 off by focusing on this special cause.
Here are some facts about socks and how they can help "sock it to poverty."
- Socks are vital to overall health of those living on the streets.
- Socks are often not donated enough and are greatly appreciated by the recipient.
- Most homeless and impovershed people do not own shoes that fit properly or are not in good condition. This increases the importance of socks.
- Many people suffer from diabetes and other ailments and they could benefit from socks with extra support.
- Not all shelters accept clean used socks so it's important when collecting that we collect new socks.
- Socks are relatively inexpensive to donate.
- There are men, women and children that live on the streets and all could benefit with a new pair of socks.
PLEASE SEND US SOCKS!! All sizes needed to: Scrapbook Royalty, PO Box 910665, San Diego, CA 92191

| Now - Jan 31st, 2008: Caring for Crystal, San Dimas, CA
UPDATE - Crystal passed away on Thursday, April 23. I know you all only know Crystal through me. I feel all of you understood what an amazing mother, wife, cousin and friend she was. I am so lucky to be connected through our wonderful hobby of scrapbooking to thousands of women who "just understand". There are no words to thank you for all of the scrapbook pages that you donated. We didn't even put a dent in the scrapbook pages. I honestly thought we would have a lot more time before Crystal left us. I guarantee you that they will all be put to good use with pictures that I have and pictures that are still yet to be taken. Your generous hearts will always live on through Crystal's Scrapbooks.
